Raptor Watch Week 2011
Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson
12 March 2011

The birds are back! 😀

Held annually on the grounds of Ilham Resort in Tanjung Tuan, the Raptor Watch Week is all about raising public awareness on the importance of the conservation of the migratory raptors, and nature in general.

Come on, click on the link above and learn a little bit about this event! 🙂

My point-and-shoot camera is simply not good enough to capture the spectacular sight of the raptors, so for a few pics of it please visit my mum’s blog.

Oh, and click HERE for the 2009 edition.

The entrance to the site.

As usual the event was carnival-like, with booths offering information on birds, migration, and nature, as well as merchandise and games.

Oh, my… Birds!

The flyways of the migratory raptors.

There were schoolkids and students from various schools and institutions around Malacca, Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

Now that I’ve mentioned it, I even met a group of SDARians while walking to the lighthouse. Hahaha.

The beach.

Then we climbed (or walked) to the Cape Rachado Lighthouse to get a better aerial view of the strait from which the raptors would appear.

The good weather is vital for the raptors as they rely heavily on thermal energy to fly with great efficiency. These birds have truly mastered the thermal soaring technique 😀

But we didn’t wait for them.

At around 1pm we left the site and checked into our hotel at Avillion.

That’s all for now.
